Flooding Update — June 12

| Earlier this evening, Mayor Trantalis signed a local state of emergency declaration for the City of Fort Lauderdale.Since midnight, the City has received between 7 and 8.5 inches of rainfall. Another 3-5 inches is expected overnight. Closures and Cancellations City administrative offices are closed until 12 p.m. tomorrow. The Homeless Advisory Board meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 13, is canceled. Mitigating Impacts The City is actively coordinating with State Emergency Management and partners with Broward County to mitigate the impacts. Vactor trucks are deployed and being utilized in areas where they will be the most effective. If homeowners experience any impacts from the flooding, they are encouraged to document with photos for insurance purposes. Trash, Recycling and Bulk Pickup Trash, recycling and bulk waste pickup is expected to operate as normal tomorrow as long as roads are passable. In an emergency, dial 911.
