A new battalion station will be constructed on the same site as Fire Station 13, improving fire services to the area, city officials say.

The existing fire station at 2871 East Sunrise Boulevard will be demolished to make way for the larger structure. Work will begin in October and is expected to be completed in late December 2027.

A new emergency medical station will also be built at 507 SE 11th Court in Fort Lauderdale.

A waterfront mansion dubbed “Ember House” is setting real estate records in Sunrise Intracoastal with an asking price of $55 million.

Neighbors are invited to attend the SIHA’s June meeting, where there will be a presentation on the new water meter installation. The meeting will be held via Zoom at 7 p.m. There will also be information about community enhancement, code enforcement, permitting, and neighborhood news updates. A Zoom link will be emailed out to members as the meeting date approaches.

Starting in June 2026, construction work will begin on Sunrise Boulevard between Middle River Drive and N. Birch Road. To learn about the planned bridge and road improvements, as well as lane closures and impacts on traffic, please read the PowerPoint presentation below. 

Work is scheduled to be complete by early 2028 and will cost $43.2 million.

The city of Fort Lauderdale is upgrading its water meters to new smart meters that will improve accuracy, reliability and service. They provide real-time data to help detect leaks faster and ensure better customer service. Neighbors will receive notice before the installation, which the city says should be minimally disruptive.

A loving wife, mother, businesswoman and community volunteer, she will be missed for the wonderful person, friend and neighbor she was to so many.
