FDOT will be closing Broward Boulevard at the Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) crossing, just west of Andrews Avenue, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, August 3, through midnight Tuesday, August 6. The primary detour route directs vehicles to Sunrise Boulevard to the north and Davie Boulevard to the south. There is a local detour route as well (please see the detour maps below). VMS signage is currently in place to provide advance notice to motorists.
The closure is needed to allow workers to safely perform necessary repairs to the railroad crossing. Workers will rehabilitate the existing track to repair defective rails and replace the crossing surface to improve ride quality.

After the sun sets all eyes will turn toward the sky for the City’s spectacular 23-minute fireworks show on Fort Lauderdale Beach at 8:45 p.m. This dazzling pyrotechnic display is an annual favorite of children and adults of all ages!
Departs every 30 minutes with service towards the beach at Stop #6: International Swimming Hall of Fame.
Runs 10 AM – 10 PM (Board prior to 7:30 p.m. to see the fireworks show.)

Traffic Advisory
Motorists should expect heavy traffic and are encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate travel routes or transportation.
Las Olas Boulevard between A1A and Seabreeze Boulevard will be closed from 6 a.m. to midnight on Thursday, July 4.
Northbound A1A traffic may access turnarounds at Poinsettia and Cortez Streets.
Southbound A1A traffic may access turnaround at 600 Seabreeze Boulevard.
Las Olas Circle is closed north of the Las Olas Garage as well as the southbound lane of Birch Road between Poinsettia and Cortez Streets.
Anyone traveling south on Birch Road towards the Garage must detour to Seabreeze Boulevard at Cortez Street in order to head south. Motorists should expect heavy traffic and are encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate travel routes or transportation.
8 PM – Midnight
Southbound traffic on Seabreeze Boulevard will be diverted to Las Olas Boulevard westbound.
Eastbound traffic on Las Olas Boulevard will be diverted south on Seabreeze Boulevard.
The turnaround south of the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center at will be closed.

Earlier this evening, Mayor Trantalis signed a local state of emergency declaration for the City of Fort Lauderdale.Since midnight, the City has received between 7 and 8.5 inches of rainfall. Another 3-5 inches is expected overnight.

Mitigating Impacts The City is actively coordinating with State Emergency Management and partners with Broward County to mitigate the impacts. Vactor trucks are deployed and being utilized in areas where they will be the most effective. If homeowners experience any impacts from the flooding, they are encouraged to document with photos for insurance purposes.
